"Every youth of India has the right to get education in order to become a self-sufficient and self-dependent member of the society and thus being a good citizen may serve his country. But the 'Ghost of dearness' has snatched all such opportunities from the hands of youth not only in India alone, but also all over the world. Higher Education has become beyond reach of the middle-class. The phantom of illiteracy is standing before the masses with open mouth ready to gulp it down. My heart bleeds. I am very much disturbed to see such things in my native country. For improving such conditions, I, alongwith other NRI followers of Bhagat Gurditta Ji, have formed a worldwide charity/a non-profit organization, Bhagat Gurditta World Educational Charitable Society Barnala and have got it registered. This society will work in this field to make the youth continue his studies by giving him not only moral but financial aid also. I strongly believe that education is freedom while illiteracy is slavery. We pledge to root it out from our motherland."

The above words, are the excerpt from the views of Sukhdev Singh Dharamsaut, a leading Indian buisnessman in USA, who is one of the franchisee owners of 7-Eleven Inc. The concern which has awarded more than 1.5 million dollars in the form of Scholarships to the needy students of USA during the last two years.

Sukhdev Singh Dharamsaut's deep dedication and devotion to mankind, music and moral-causes of Sikhism has made him a star-attraction. By dint of his sound knowledge of Sikh history and melodious voice, this artiste of a tiny hamlet Pharwahi of the Malwa Region in Punjab, has popularized Sikhism through the art of music. This founder president of Bhagat Gurditta World Educational Charitable Society Barnala (Regd.) was only five years old when he started singing Shabad Gurbani and devotional songs from All India Radio, Jalandhar. Gurnam Singh Rasila, also an artiste and an expert of folklore is the father as well as the teacher of Sukhdev Singh Dharamsaut. It is because of his inspiration and guidance that Sukhdev Singh Dharamsaut has touched heights of singing hymns from the Holy Gurbani.

Bhai Kanahiaya, Bhagat Puran Singh, Mother Teressa are some of the greatest humanitarian personalities from whom he gets inspiration. Bhagat Gurditta Ji has become his model in life. All thse dignitaries have collectively made him what he is at present. Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Eleventh Guru of the Sikhs shows him the right Path and inspires him to do right things at right time.

Now, Sukhdev Singh Dharamsaut has found an opportunity to help the down-trodden through the podium of this newly-born society which has come into existence on 1st September, 2004, the day of 400th Parkash Utsav celebrations of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Harmandir Sahib Amritsar.    Sukhdev Singh Dharamsaut and his father Gurnam Singh Rasila have been helping the needy people with food, water, shelter, clothing and medical assistance in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, U.P. and other neighboring states of India for more than last 50 years under the supervision of Saint Baba Karam Chand Ji of Village Pharwahi, Punjab. Saint Baba Karam Chand Ji also one of the greatest humanitarian leaders and highly enlightened saints of the era who has served the Indian Community matchlessly.

Following the footsteps of his father, Gurnam Singh Rasila, Sukhdev Singh Dharamsaut is practicing humanitarianism worldwide. He also accompanied his Artiste father to give performances in various countries of the world. Both of them made a two-member concert to find opportunities for such programmes which serve the cause of Music and humanitarianism.

Being impressed by their feats in religious music the companies like HMV India and Audio-Visual Productions of UK and ACR USA have released a number of cassettes and Albums time to time, that are highly appreciated in Indian Communities worldwide. And some more concers, such as Doordarshan Jalandhar, UK TV & KFTL 64 USA National Television Channels were attracted towards them to give them opportunities to perform their best.

This effort of 'the father and the son' has been widely acclaimed nationally as well as internationally as it promotes the spirit of humanitarianism, love, peace and service of humanity.
