Lakhwinder takes singing traditions of Wadali family to next level

Amritsar, April 27 (P.K.Jaiswar): It is indeed a pride moment to sing along side my father and mentor, Padamshri Puran Chand Wadali, says Lakhwinder Wadali who announced the arrival of his second album ‘Saanwal Rangiye’ which was due to release shortly.

Visibly ecstatic the Wadali sibling said that following the family traditions he had endeavored to come up with new experiments in singing though maintaining the Sufi spirit of Punjabi music alive there by keeping the family flag flying high and emerging out from the shadow of his illustrious father-uncle due.

However, he rued that with his uncle and father met with an unfortunate road mishap resulting in serious jaw injuries to his uncle which made him to abandon the singing.

Earlier, he added that the one song which he sang with his father was planned to sing with the Sufi singers duo.

But he quickly added that in the next album he would definitely feature with along side his father Puran Chand and uncle Pyare Lal Wadali.

Saanwal Rangiye has 12 numbers carrying the lyrics of Jaswant Baaj. He sang a number ‘Ve Mahiya Tere Dekhan Nu Chuk Charkha Gali De Vich Dawaan’ which he sang with his father Puran Chand.

He said he learnt a lot of new things while singing with his father.

Lakhwinder who earlier came up with album Bullah with very good success, said that he had tried new experiments in his new album. “As I am young, people expect me to do something new, that’s what I tried in this new album without abandoning the classical style which has been forte of his family. I hope that people would love this”.

With this new album he is trying to establish the domain of wadali family through his absolutely different singing style which would prove to be a blend of old and new.

He felt that he was slowly emerging out as new generation singer.

When asked that how does he place himself vis a vis his more famous father-Uncle duo he said that nobody could match the charismatic singing of wadali brothers, but hasten to add that he would try his best to follow their footsteps to carve a place for himself in the big music world..

Believing in the myth that the god creats the inseparable dues like his father-Uncle duo he said “Jodia Jag Thoria”.

Meanwhile, Puran Chand and Pyare Lal while talking to media during a function at local club said that it was only the love of people and grace of god that they had escaped the accident.

Pyare Lal said that with the grace of god and prays of well wisher that held him recover fully. (With thanks from "The Tribune")

‘Akhiyan Udeek Diyan’ - Wadali’s take on female foeticide

Amritsar, August 25 (Shivani Sharma): Punjabi film “Akhiyan Udeek Dian” would portray the social menace of female foeticide and low sex ratio, besides creating awareness among people against this social menace.

Stating this to the media, Punjabi singer-actor Lakhwinder Wadali said he, along with co-producer of the film Navtej Sandhu, had decided to produce a film to send a message to the common man against female foeticide.

He said even though the government had been educating the masses against this social menace, besides putting a ban on sex determination, they thought supporting it by producing a film on the issue would not only entertain the Punjabi audience but also effectively create awareness among them.

Wadali said they had decided to give 50 per cent discount to students so that they came and watched the film to get themselves aware of the issue.

He also said that he had not taken any money from the producer for the film as it was his duty to create awareness among the people about the social menace. Navtej said the concept of the film was serious but it had its lighter moments also. He said the film was being directed by Mukesh Gupta, while the script is by Sukhwinder Sukhi. Roshni, heroine of the movie, danced with the students of a private school during the film crew’s visit to the school. (With thanks from "The Tribune")

‘Akhiyaan Udeekdiyan’ to hit theatres on Sep 11

Patiala, August 24 (TNS): With the growing popularity of Punjabi cinema, everyone in Punjab sees greater chances of growth in the field. Next in the line is Punjabi singer Lakhwinder Wadali, son of Padam Shri Ustad Puran Chand Wadali.

Having established himself among top singers as far as Sufi singing and other genres are concerned, Lakhwinder is all set to take over the entertainment industry. His first film “Akhiyaan udeek diya” is all set to hit the theatres on September 11.

Throwing light on his upcoming project, Lakhwinder while addressing mediapersons at Rajindra Gymkhana Club here today said he was deeply moved by the story and had decided at once to play the lead actor.

He said the story revolves around the issue of female foeticide but the film is a blend of good music, comedy, romance etc.

Female lead in the movie, Roshni had earlier played a second lead in Harbhajan Mann starrer “Jag jeondian de mele.”

Roshni said female foeticide was a sensitive topic and had been dealt brilliantly.

On being questioned about his interest in acting, Lakhwinder said his decision to move towards acting was a conscious step because he wanted to exploit his other talents. “Moreover, I have been a model in all my videos. So, acting is not new to me,” he added.

He also stressed that he would do only those projects in which he truly believed. The music of the film would be launched on August 27. (With thanks from "The Tribune")
